Recorded at Britannia Row,London, in November 1980 - 'Children of the Night' is Nash the Slash's

best selling album to date, with over 100,000 worldwide sales. This was the first Nash the Slash album

I ever heard, and it totally blew me away. I had never heard music played like this before, and to this

day it still blows my mind.

Track listing :

Wolf

- an instrumental of violin & mandolin with a pulsating bass type beat

provided by a Crumar Multiman, and recorded with an arsenal of effects.

The power and intensity is terrific, with the main melody sliding perfectly into an excerpt from

Prokofiev's Peter & the Wolf, and then ending with mandolin power chords, and a wall of sound.

Dead Man's Curve

A great rendition of the hit song originally released by Jan & Dean.

This version is different from the original Cut Throat single release.

Children of the Night

One of the fans favourites. Dark, sombre lyrics fit brilliantly alongside heavy fuzz mandolin

various effects. The CD release also includes a live version.

Deep Forest

A short, sharp wall of effected sound - very creepy.

(In a) Glass Eye

A rocking track of drum machine, vocals and mandolin. This is what Nash the Slash is all about !.

The mandolin solo is truly awe inspiring.

19th Nervous Breakdown

The classic Rolling Stones track gets the Nash treatment. An improvement on the original ?

Definitely.

Swing Shift (Soixante Neuf)

I wont begin to describe this - suffice to say that it is truly original and amongst

the best he has written.

Metropolis

Another short, sharp burst of various noises - an extended verson of this track was

released as the b-side to the single 'Dead Man's Curve' (in certain countries), and also

avalable as a white lable promo.

Dopes on the Water

Nash takes the p*** out of Deep Purple. The mandolin power chords sound awesome,

the vocals are aggressive, the sound is amazing !!.

Danger Zone

An instrumental of violin, mandolin, effects - very ahead of its time - today it would probably be

called techno. The high pitched lead sound is actually Nash's voice put through a phase shifter

(at least I think thats what it's called !!).

The CD release also includes the following tracks :

Wolf (Live version, recorded at Hammersmith Odeon, London, 1980)

Danger Zone (live version, as above) - awesome !.

Reactor No.2 - the b-side to the UK release of the single 'Dead Man's Curve', although this

track was also included on the vinyl release of 'Children of the Night' in Germany.

Swing Shift - the original Cut Throat version, released as a sngle in Canada in 1980.

Swing Shift (flexi version) - given away on the cover of the UK cult teenage magazine

'Smash Hits' in 1981 as a flexi disc. Also includes a song by OMD. Very different version

of the song.

Children of the Night (live) - a live version recorded in 1997.
